As the year 2022 comes to an end, the promoter of the Jeju Dream Tower in Jeju has announced plans to bring in more VIP players. The holiday island in South Korea will welcome players from Japan this November and December as part of a new initiative by the casino. This quarter, the promoter plans to offer two charters for VIP players arriving to Jeju from Tokyo Narita airport.
Bringing More Visitors to Jeju Dream Tower
With the charter flights, Jeju Dream Tower will be able to welcome more guests as the year comes to a close. Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd. Told GGRAsia that the first group of tourists will arrive in Jeju on November 4. The guests will only stay two days before returning home.
The second flight will arrive on December 30 and leave on January 3. The charters will be operated by T’way Air Co Ltd of South Korea. Each flight will be able to carry as many as 189 passengers. In its report, GGRAsia stated that Jeju Dream Tower revealed that charter flight tourists will be recruited by junkets and travel agencies.
All travelers will stay at the Jeju Dream Tower at the Grand Hyatt Jeju hotel. It will be interesting to see if this plan will help the Jeju casino to see more travelers in the coming months. The property has seen a decrease in its earnings with second-quarter revenue reports revealing gross gaming earnings of KRW15.3 billion ($10.7 million). This is a decrease of 17.3% from the previous quarter.
Spurring Travel with Visa-Free Entry
For a few months now, South Korea has been working to bring in more tourism by offering visa-free entry. The program was launched for passport holders in Japan, Taiwan, and Macau. The goal was to make it easier for travelers to visit.
The program was already extended in August and will be available even longer now, through October 31. The region and other countries in the area are trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
When the pandemic first began, strict regulations were in place which stopped travel to certain areas. Casinos were affected because of the social nature of the facilities, with many closing down for several months to avoid contamination.
Now that COVID-19 is under control, areas such as Jeju are trying to find ways to bring travelers back to their casinos. The visa-free scheme will help with travel overall and the charter flights should spur revenues as the VIP players will be ready to spend once they arrive at the casino.
